SYMBOL OF ANADOL...?
|
H A N D O N W A I S T
“Hand on Waist”
is the name of a commonly known traditional rug motif which is stylized
out of a woman figure who puts her hands on her waist. This motif
also represents reproduction and proliferation as the woman is also “a
mother.” Hand on Waist not only symbolizes motherhood and
profligacy, but also represents good luck, fertility, fortune, happiness
and joy. The
name of our company “A
N A D O L” is originated
from the word “Anatolia” and our logo is stylized from the Hand on Waist
motif, which is a condensation of many symbols. In
In the excavations, there has been many findings of Mother Goddess statuettes in the sacred settlements of the early civilizations in the Anatolian region. The Hand on Waist motif is from the same origin with these statuettes, which is still commonly used in Anatolian rugs and carpets. As in the case of the statuettes, the houses which possess rugs with the Hand on Waist motif are believed to embody a life enriched with good luck, fertility, proliferation, fortune, happiness and joy. |
